The RPG BAD Panel is a combination diffuser and absorber that is great for treating rear wall reflection points
RPG, to our knowledge, is the originator of the hybrid absorber / diffuser concept. Ever the innovators, RPG developed a 2D 'phase grating' which is a patented hardboard drilled in a very specific pattern to provide diffusion. This phase grating, when combined with a fiberglass core, became the RPG BAD (Binary Amplitude Diffsorbor) Panel. The benefits of this approach are that the panel can be easily blented with interior decoration, which is not the case with well (QRD) type diffusors and can, because it is flat, be covered in any acoustically transparent fabric.
Specifications:
- Patented, RPG exclusive, two dimensional binary reflection amplitude grating
- 3" thick 6 pounds per square foot (pcf) compressed fiberglass panel
- Resin hardened edges in a choice of square, beveled, mitered or rounded finishes
- Can be covered with a choice of 87 acoustically transparent fabrics to match any interior decor
- Class A fire rated
- Performance verified at Chesapeake Acoustic Research Institute, LLC
The RPG BAD Panel is supplied as standard with four impaling clips.
Other versions
The RPG BAD panel is also available is a 4" thick 24" x 24" version, a 4" thick 24" x 48" version and a 3" thick 24" x 24" version.
The best product to use at side wall first reflection points is the RPG BAD Arc, which is a curved version of the RPG BAD Panel. The curvature provides additional diffusion which is particularly beneficial at side wall mirror points.
