Acoustic Frontiers recommends using diffusers such as the RPG Skyline to control reflections and create an evenly decaying sound field. Diffusors used at major reflection points in studios, listening rooms and home theaters should be a minimum of 7" deep to provide constant diffusion down to around 250Hz. Those used elsewhere within the room may be thinner. We also recommend that your listening position is a minimum of 7ft away from the diffusers on this page. If you need to sit closer then use a combination absorber / diffusor product. Of note when planning your acoustic treatment design is that diffusors also provide a small amount of absorption - typically their absorption coefficient is 0.1 to 0.2 (i.e. they absorb 10-20% of incident sound energy) over the midrange frequencies.
