Acoustic Frontiers recommends using acoustical panels designed specifically for the task at hand - if you need absorptive panels on a ceiling to control reflections or decay time then use Ceiling Clouds. Primacoustic manufacture the Stratus and Nimbus Ceiling Clouds which are both constructed from 2" thick fiberglass. They both include specific mounting hardware to allow you to hang the panels from the ceiling. The main difference between the two is that the Stratus has aluminium sidecheeks which easily allow multiple Stratus units to be joined together. Both are functionally the same from an acoustics perspective.
