Acoustic Panels are general purpose acoustical treatments that can be used to control reflections and reduce decay times. The panels we offer are made from fiberglass which has roughly double the absorption per inch of thickness compared to foam. 6" of foam is required to produce the same absorption spectrum as 3" of fiberglass.

Acoustic Frontiers recommends:

  • 3" thickness for panels used at major reflection points in studio, listening rooms and home theaters in order to provide constant absorption over the audio spectrum. 2" is ok if there are budgetary restrictions but some lower midrange timbral distortion will result.
  • 4" thickness if space allows to provide additional control of room modes.
  • 1" or 2" panels can be used to provide general control of midrange decay times in sparsely furnished rooms or those with large expanses of hard surfaces. 1" panels at major reflection points should be avoided.
